A Very Different Read For Me (22)

TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR FERTILITY by Toni Weschler, MPH
This book gives the basics of charting a woman's signs of ovulation in order to prevent -- or achieve -- pregnancy. My coworker recommended this book as one to read if you simply want to understand how a woman's complex body works, and she is right! It is so interesting, and something I wish had been taught in high school instead of the more vague and less useful subjects in health class. (William Morrow, 2006)

I've not read this, but DH and I used many of the 'natural rhythms' when we were trying for our kiddos. Luck or not, they worked, and we got a boy with D (which we wanted first) on our first try and a girl with E on our first try...(and I spent months before we even tried charting my ovulation and taking my temp before getting out of bed each morning).

I feel like the tracking your temp at least would be a great thing for teen girls to learn in HS. It seems as though "YOU MIGHT GET PREGNANT!" is a "threat" that is used so teens won't have sex, but then you grow up thinking it can happen "so easily," and it's not until your friends/family start TRYING to have children that you learn how it really works...and then other details like those provided in this book just seemed like they should be so common sense for a girl as soon as she has her first period. Although if I ever had a girl, I'd probably now just make her read this book asap, lol!

I have this book and I think it is a MUST READ for all women, no matter their age and no matter whether they're trying to pregnant or not! It taught me so much that I never learned in health class. It's amazing how much we don't know about our bodies and the way they work.

Yes! What you said EXACTLY. It seems that most women don't learn any of this until they are trying to get pregnant, when really it is important for all women!
